DMGS
Prof Obidinma Isaiah Okoli Onyemelukwe, (circa 1937 – 1922) DMGS Class of 56 (Aggrey House and Tugwell House), was an economist and statistician.
He attended Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) from 1952 to 1956. He loved DMGS and always cherished the memories of his time there.
A proud Dengramite, he was President of the DMGS Old Boys Association, Enugu Branch and also served as Financial Secretary of the Association for many years.
He was the recipient of several scholarships and awards. He would be thrilled to encourage a student in Mathematics and Economics, which were his areas of expertise, with awards in these subjects.
The Prof Obidinma Isaiah Okoli Onyemelukwe Foundation instituted these Prizes at his beloved DMGS, starting in 2022:
1. The Prof Obidinma Isaiah Okoli Onyemelukwe Prize for Mathematics; and
2. The Prof Obidinma Isaiah Okoli Onyemelukwe Prize for Economics.

The recipient in 2023 for Best in Mathematics is Praise Manaka while the Best in Economics is Chigozirim Agah. The Foundation wishes the recipients successful pursuits in these subjects and in other areas of life.

These awards are based on the interests and causes of Prof OIO Onyemelukwe who was a first-class graduate of Economics and also an outstanding academic in the areas of Economics and Statistics at various Nigerian Universities. The awards recognise the extraordinary achievements of students who excel in these subjects.
The recipients of the inaugural Obidinma Isaiah Onyemelukwe Foundation prize for Best in Mathematics and Best in Economics are Divine Chukwugozie and Benjamin Adubasim respectively.
